Jason Clare congratulates Mrs Ina Cowell on her 100th Birthday

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, visited Betty Sussman Centre in Georges Hall today to congratulate Mrs Ina May Cowell on reaching 100 years of age.

Mrs Cowell was born in Coolah in 1914. She married in Binnaway in 1934 and raised three children. Her late husband Ron, worked on the railway and eventually moved his family to Lakemba and later Punchbowl. Mrs Cowell still lives at home with her daughter in Yagoona.

Mrs Cowell loves her sport and dominated the Women’s Singles Championships at the Mount Lewis Bowling Club where she played until she was 95.

Mrs Cowell celebrated her birthday at a special morning tea.

“Mrs Cowell is an inspiring woman who has contributed a great deal to our community.

“It was a privilege to be able to celebrate this happy time with Mrs Cowell, her family and the staff at Bankstown City Aged Care.” Mr Clare said.

Jason Clare’s electorate office arranged for a letter of congratulations to be sent to Mrs Cowell from Her Majesty the Queen.

Mr Clare invites residents to let his office know when they are celebrating a special 90th plus birthday or a 50th plus wedding anniversary so he can arrange for appropriate personal congratulatory messages.

“Celebrating important occasions like this with members of our community is a great privilege,” Mr Clare said.
