“These awards recognise students from 40 schools across Blaxland for the outstanding work they do in our local community. They have all done something special that makes them a local hero,” Mr Clare said.

The youngest recipient on the night was local year 2 student, Jamal Khushbakat from Sefton Infants School.

“At just 7 years of age, Jamal demonstrates sensitivity and maturity beyond his years. He often initiates and coordinates peer support activities and is always actively involved in fundraising events, to help his school and local charities.

“Our community has a proud tradition of community service – I congratulate and thank all the students for their efforts to uphold this tradition.

During this event, the students recognised for their admirable achievements were presented with an official certificate.
